The workshop "12 000 years of palaeonvironments and landscape archaeology in the Upper Rhine Graben and neighbouring regions" will take place at the end of the Q13 conference in Strasbourg on Friday 18 March 2022.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on the Upper Rhine region (Vosges, Black Forest, Rhine Valley) or around, on themes linked to palaeoenvironmental reconstruction, landscape evolution, and soil occupation / distribution of archaeological sites. The objectives are to 1) make the community aware of existing or potential research projects and 2) allow identifying people with complementary skills who could work together in the future, especially on interdisciplinary projects.

We propose short presentations (ca. 5 mn – time to be adapted depending on the number of contributions), on research projects and/or specific skills “on offer”. These will be followed by discussions in smaller groups, depending on topics/objectives identified during the presentations.

If you are interested to join, could you send us back this short questionnaire by 1st February :

For those who are interested in presenting, we would then ask you to send a very short description on what you are willing to talk about.

PS the workshop will be mostly in English to encourage direct trans-border interactions – if you’d rather present in French or German please let us know, we’ll try to facilitate communication

Le workshop "12 000 years of palaeonvironments and landscape archaeology in the Upper Rhine Graben and neighbouring regions" aura lieu à la fin de la conférence Q13 à Strasbourg, le 18 mars 2022.

Le but du workshop est de faire se rencontrer les chercheurs travaillant dans la région du Rhin supérieur (Vosges, Forêt Noire, vallée du Rhin) ou aux alentours, sur des thématiques liées à la reconstruction paléoenvironnementale, l’évolution des paysages, et l’occupation des sols / la distribution des sites archéologiques. Les objectifs sont 1) d’informer la communauté sur les projets de recherche en cours ou potentiels et 2) de permettre d’identifier les personnes avec des compétences complémentaires qui pourraient travailler ensemble dans le futur, en particulier sur des projets interdisciplinaires.

Nous proposons de courtes présentations (environ 5 mn, le temps sera adapté en fonction du nombre de contributions) portant sur des projets de recherche et/ou des compétences spécifiques à proposer. Ces présentations seront suivies par des discussions en groupes plus réduits, selon les sujets/objectifs identifiés pendant les présentations.

Si vous souhaitez participer, pourriez-vous nous renvoyer le petit questionnaire suivant d’ici au 1e février :

Pour ceux qui souhaitent présenter, nous vous demanderont alors de nous envoyer une courte description du contenu de votre contribution.

PS le workshop sera principalement en anglais pour encourager les échanges transfrontaliers directs – si vous souhaitez plutôt présenter en français ou en allemand, merci de nous le signaler, nous essayerons de faciliter la communication

Der Workshop "12 000 years of palaeonvironments and landscape archaeology in the Upper Rhine Graben and neighbouring regions", wirt am Freitag, den 18. März 2022, stattfinden.  

Ziel dieses workshops ist die Verknüpfung grenzüberschreitender und internationaler Wissenschaftler, deren räumliche Forschungsausrichtung im Oberrheingebiet liegt (Vogesen, Schwarzwald, Rheintal und angrenzende Gebiete). Dabei stehen Palaeo-Umweltrekonstruktionen, Landschaftsentwicklung, Bodennutzung und die räumliche Verbreitung archäologischer Fundstellen im Mittelpunkt. Wir möchten vor allem 1) auf gegenwärtige und zukünftige Projekte aufmerksam machen und 2) mögliche Kooperationen sich thematisch ergänzender, interdisziplinärer Forschungsgruppen anstoßen.

Wir berücksichtigen 5-minütige input-Präsentationen (ca. 5 Minuten, je nach Anzahl der eingereichten Beiträge), die Forschungsprojekte und/oder technische Berichte umfassen. Anschließend sind Diskussionsrunden zu einzelnen Bereichen der Präsentationen geplant.

Der workshop wird größtenteils in Englisch stattfinden, sollten Sie dennoch an einer Präsentation auf Deutsch/Französisch festhalten wollen, so kontaktieren Sie uns bitte vorab und wir finden gemeinsam eine Möglichkeit.
